Tools for Finding and Managing Talent
From Idealist’s public-facing job tools to Catalyst Exchange’s internal matching and scouting systems, my work focuses on simplifying how mission-driven teams discover, evaluate, and collaborate with the right people. Each product tackles a different point in the process, from posting and tracking roles to building networks and managing partnerships.

UI/UX designer
Applicant Tracking System
I manage the design of Idealist’s custom ATS, which allows employers to track applications directly on our site. The ATS is continuously improved based on user feedback; a recent update encourages job posters to ask questions instead of requiring cover letters, streamlining the process to help employers find the right fit more efficiently.
Onboarding and Support
As part of our marketing campaigns, I created an animated product video to help admins efficiently navigate the ATS and maximize its benefits. Our user research shows that clear, engaging support materials significantly boost tool adoption and user satisfaction.

Resume Recommender
Role: UI/UX Designer
We created the Resume Recommender to send 20 complimentary, curated candidate suggestions directly to employers, based on work history, skills, and other key factors. I designed the admin interface and a series of ads to prompt users to upload their resumes.

Suggested Resumes
Admins can review the recommended candidates in a clean, sortable list inside our custom ATS system.

Resume Review
Admins can preview each resume, rank them, and contact users directly through the platform.

Contact
5,000 candidates successfully connected to employers from a pool of 91,000 recruitable resumes by 2024.

Pro Scouting
Role: UI/UX Designer
Problem: Catalyst:Ed's project matching process relied heavily on manual coordination between staff, partners, and providers. Partners often received too many applications, making it hard to identify strong fits. Providers, in turn, spent time crafting proposals for projects where they had little chance of selection.
Solution: We designed Pro Scouting to be clearer and more efficient for partner and provider connections. It introduced a pre-proposal scouting phase that allowed partners to preview interested providers and invite them to apply, thereby improving relevance and match quality.

Provider Preview
A provider preview is an early “peek” at a consultant’s capabilities, surfaced before the proposal stage. It’s designed to reduce friction, save time, and help partners identify strong-fit providers faster.
Email-based System
This matching flow is a primarily email-based system that lets partners and providers take key actions directly from their inbox, without needing to log into a full platform. Emails guide users through early steps like expressing interest, receiving invitations, or confirming decisions, while the system records each action in the background.
